Dodge WC51 and WC52 "Weapon Carrier," the US Army's 3/4-ton 4x4
The Dodge WC series covers the 3/4-ton 4x4 military trucks built by Dodge during World War II. The WC51 and WC52, known as "Weapon Carriers," are the most common models: an open cargo body able to carry an eight-man rifle squad and its gear, with an optional M24A1 machine gun mount.
The only notable difference between the two: the WC52 carries a 7,500-lb Braden MU-2 winch up front, which required a frame roughly ten inches longer than the winch-less WC51. Built from 1942 to 1945, they total around 182,600 units (123,541 WC51 and 59,114 WC52) — nearly three-quarters of all Dodge 3/4-ton production on their own.
