GMC CCKW for Sale
The "Deuce and a Half," the 6x6 truck that supplied the Allied armies
Nicknamed the "Deuce and a Half" or simply the "Jimmy," the GMC CCKW is the most-produced 2.5-ton 6x6 truck built by the United States during World War II: around 518,000 units between 1941 and 1945, close to a quarter of all US military truck production over that period. The CCKW code stands for a 1941 design (C), conventional cab (C), all-wheel drive (K) and dual rear axle (W).
It came in two wheelbases: the short-wheelbase CCKW-352 (around 54,000 units) and the longer, far more common CCKW-353 (around 464,000 units). A cab-over-engine variant, the AFKWX, was also built in smaller numbers (around 7,200 units). Backbone of the "Red Ball Express," the logistics convoy that kept the Allied armies supplied after the Normandy landings, the CCKW remains one of the most iconic vehicles of the American war effort.
